Name: Hekai
Gender Identity: Male
Height: 5’10”
Age at Start of Series: 17
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color: Black
Hair Style: Leaves it shaggy, but has it trimmed when it gets too long or goes in his eyes.
Body Type: Tan skinned and muscular but still slight. A fast, strong and slender body built for speed more so than strength.
Personality: Has a prickly exterior towards people who he is not close with, but vehemently defends and protects those who are. Though he accepts his confinement, Hekai wishes to be free of the mountain of Zenhee to live his life how he wants.
Flaws: Tends to act before he thinks and relies on brute strength to get him out of situations. Has little regard for authority, but does follow instructions when he deems it necessary. He jumps to conclusions before having all the facts and will fight for what he believes is to his detriment.
Goals: Hekai wants to use his ability to avoid more damage to the world of Meheid caused by forces that are unknown to him. He also wants to do everything in his power to protect the girl he sees in his visions within the Schism. He will do anything to make sure she goes back to her world safely, even if it means separating from her forever.
History: Born into the Eien Clan who are the descendants of the Akari Maidens, Hekai lived a free life in his village. At the age of five, he began to see a girl younger than him appear by the Seirei Tree, urging him to play with her. This was the first sign that he had the Sight. His village elders marveled at how early he started to show the ability and planned to start training him within a few weeks. However, the village was attacked and destroyed by an army sent by Himen, a country beyond the Eastern mountains.
Hekai was told to hide by his father as he fought off the invaders only to die right in front of him. His mother found him in the rubble of the house and they escaped the carnage. Wounded, but determined to save her son, Hekai’s mother, Suri, raced to the Mountain Domain of the Shehen, Zenhee. There she entrusted Hekai to a friend of her husband’s, Soren, before dying from her wounds.
Raised within the Order, Hekai took on the training to become a Shehen in order to exact revenge on the people who killed his family and clan. He was trained primarily by the son of the man who adopted him, Sheffen. Nealy at the end of his training, Hekai heard that the group alleged to have attacked his clan was on the move again. Without permission, he left the mountain to pursue them.
When he found them, something took over his mind brought on by the hate and anger seeing their faces again ignited in him. It was days before he was himself again, but the carnage he left in his wake was immeasurable. An act that carried the penalty of death within the laws of Zenhee. However, due to his ability of Sight, he was spared, but was to remain at the mountain for the rest of his life.
Dark days followed, but one memory stayed with him. The little girl who wanted to play. He wondered if he could see her again, if only once. While practicing his ability on his own, he was able to see her in her own world. Her life fascinated him and calmed the fire of pain and revenge within his soul. As she grew before his eyes, so did the cracks in the barrier of the Schism.
Informing the Elders of Zenhee did little to warn of the dangers the cracks posed. So Hekai stands vigilant of the situation and watches the girl from a far.
