Personality: Stead fast in his beliefs and loyal to a fault to the Shehan Order. He is calculating and intelligent in terms of battle tactics and strategies. He looks up to his father, Soren, and strives to reach the same level.
Flaws: Is very hard headed and usually takes a lot of convincing to go against his orders if at all. He is loyal, to the point of blindness, to the Shehan Order. He follows his orders without question.
Goals: Steffen’s ultimate goal is to take the place of his father within the Shehan Order. He also wants to be able to guide Hekai towards a better path than the one he follows aimlessly.
History: Born in a village not far from the Mountain of Zenhee, Steffen lived with his mother until he was seven years old. His father, Soren would come by to visit with him as much as he could, but never stayed. The reason wasn’t made clear to him until his father came to take him to live with him. Though Soren had relations with Steffen’s mother, they were never allowed to be together due to the laws of the Shehen Order. The two of them met during a military operation, where Steffen’s mother worked at the camp as a cook and they met in secret. Steffen was born soon afterwards.
With Steffen’s mother being an unmarried woman, prospects for both were limited. However, if he were to join the Order with his father, his mother could move to another village to start a new life without the stigma of being a single mother. Though understanding, Steffen hated having to leave her.
After completing the main training earlier than expected, Steffen was soon given his first command to track down a group of bandits that were robbing and killing travelers. While on their trail, Steffen received information that the village his mother moved to was in the path of a Mord hoard. Abandoning his mission, he raced to save the village.
However, upon reaching it, another squad had already arrived to deal with the hoard. When he went back to find the bandits, they had killed a family with small children. They were traveling to sell what little they had at market in order to have enough money to buy supplies for winter. While burying the bodies of the children, he swore he would never disobey an order again, no matter what his feelings were.
A few years later, Hekai came to live with them. Steffen tried in imbue the importance of their traditions within the Order to him, but his tendency to rebel against authority became a major stumbling block. Having become a master of weapons, Steffen used every skill at his disposal to train as many Plebs as he could while also concentrating on the importance of complete loyalty and adherence to the laws of the Order.
